Eli At One Month

Well, we've made it through the first month! It has been an exhausting month, no doubt about it. Eli is a good baby with some fussy hours in the evening only. He just likes to be entertained in the evening. At 1 month of age Eli is:
  • Eating about every 3 hours. At night you will go about 4 or sometimes 5 hours in between feedings.
  • You tend to wake up for one 2-3 hour stretch during the day then again for 3 hours or so in the evening around dinner time.
  • You're fussy/needy time of day is in the evening starting around 7 pm and lasts until bedtime at 11 or 12 (I am having trouble getting you to bed before then).
  • You are a very big and strong baby. At your pediatrician visit when you were 2 weeks, you were at 9 lbs 6 oz (birth weight was 8 lbs 10 oz). The pediatrician made comments about how "in control" and "physicall strong and confident" you are....my lactation consultant who helped us get going on the breastfeeding also made comments about your strength.
  • You have dark blue eyes and long black hair that sticks up in the back (about an inch long or more).
  • You have smiled at me once and at Daddy once....a genuine smile with eye contact...it melted our hearts!
  • You are wearing size 1 diapers and 3 month clothing...you are wearing 3-6 month in some things....like I said, you are a big baby.
  • You are already holding your head upright for about 10-20 seconds and will put weight on your feet when we hold you upright.
  • Things you enjoy: the swing, looking out the window, eating, riding in the car, bathtime (as long as I wait until the very end to get your head wet).

Here are some pictures of Eli at 1 month.....

Here you are looking out the window with a Zoolander face....

This is during that "needy time" that I mentioned. For size reference, that is a 20" x 20" pillow on your right.
