Halloween 2009

Well, Halloween was a success around here. Lucas was a fireman this year and he was very proud of his costume. He did not want to take it off. We went trick or treating around our neighborhood and hit about 10 houses then he wanted to go home and eat his candy! He has never gotten to have candy before so it was pretty interesting. He loved the chocolate and opted to pass on the fruity candy like skittles, gummy bears, etc. I can't really blame him.
This was the first year that he actually understood what candy was so we let him have some for a "special occasion." I'm a bit of a health nut so I have put this day off as long as I could! He enjoyed but did not go overboard on sugar so I was pretty pleased.
Lucas told me that he liked handing out candy to the trick or treaters more than getting candy himself so we handed out candy until about 9 or so then turned off the porch light. He loved all of the "pretty grills" and the cute little costumes but was frozen in fear when the big kids came around in their scary masks.
My parents and Stacey and Nick came to see Lucas and of course my parents were in full costume. It was too funny. They rand the doorbell and Lucas went to give candy and did not recongnize them until they were about to leave. He said "heyyyy, papaw" but a little unsure like he might not know exactly who it was.... We all got a good laugh out of it.
One other thing, Lucas liked talking to all of the people when he was going from house to house. He would make little comments to them like, "you don't have your shoes on!!" or "is that your car??" and point to the driveway. He was just adorable.
Here are some pictures of the night.

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!!
