We will be leaving Hawaii tonight. We have been here for 4 weeks and loved every minute of it. We always hate to leave Hawaii but we look forward to next summer...we will come for 6 weeks! Some of the memorable things from this trip, in no particular order, that I want to remember are:
- Eli has started saying a few words while we are here....boat, humuhumu (state fish of Hi), bird, papaw, daddy, moon, please...
- Lucas has started using the word "totally" a lot...as in "that was totally fun."
- Lucas has really gotten into his body board and getting good waves. He also loves searching for seashells and humus on the sea wall.
- Eli's willingness to hula when he hears a Hawaiian song...adorable!
- Lucas calling Eli "my little tiki torch."
- Both boys eating a ton of grilled cheese, pineapple, ice cream....
- I was able to paddle board for the first time and loved it...I will do that every time I come.
- Getting family pictures made on Lanikai Beach....more on this later in a separate post.
- Going shopping in Haleiwa and Kailua.
- Lucas' first hike up Diamond Head and Eli's first hike up to Makapuu point..
- Eli LOVING coconut water straight from a fresh coconut...like literally drinking from the coconut. Lucas was not too crazy about it.
- Both boys getting excited over the countless airplanes and helicopters that fly over Waikiki beach any given day!
- Celebrating Jose's 28th Birthday here by climbing Koko head crater...and taking him to see Incubus (a band that has always been on our list) the first weekend Jose was here.
- We went to see Makana (an awesome guitar player) and Lucas was SO into it...he asked Daddy to teach him the guitar that night.
- Dinner with Jose (without kids) at Michel's at sunset..
- Running and hiking with the beautiful views and trade winds cooling you off.
- Not turning on the TV once in 4 weeks.....not once.
- Watching Lucas and Eli make friends on the beach...even Eli would try to interact with people.
- Getting some one on one time with Lucas on the beach (thanks to Nene watching Eli).
- Eating fresh fish every single day.
Some pictures of our adventures this past week or so.....
